So few words for a vessel of such a great and terrible past, yet war is what the Nimitz was bred for. In 2388, Starfleet made an unexpected move in assigning Naera Dantius, a member of the illusive race known as the Asrey, command of one of the Federation's most lethal weapons. This abrupt decision marked a major turn in Starfleet's enlistment protocols, and in years to come, would entail repercussions on a massive scale.

In the meantime, the Nimitz sits in dock after completing a major overhaul in her weapons systems. As captain and crew settle into their new lives aboard the ship, all seems well... That is until a communications silence from the famed MIDAS array opens a whole new world of despair. Can the Nimitz halt a potential onslaught? Or is Starfleet too late this time?

Evening all,

First off, let's welcome two new additions to the Tactical & Security department; CTSO Talin Lokar and Assistant CTSO Jerxon Cre, two very valuable newcomers!

On to the main point; I have decided the time is ripe to appoint the Nimitz's Second Officer. The responsibilities of the SO are recessive in that they only apply in certain situations. First and foremost, the Second Officer takes the role of XO in the event of my absence/death/incapacitation. If the XO is unavailable, then the SO assumes the role of Captain, with the next-ranking officer assuming the role of XO. The SO position is open to anyone that wishes to apply, though the following parameters must be considered beforehand;

- You must hold the rank of Lieutenant or higher.
- You must be a member of the Senior Staff.

The final decision will be made by myself and Lieutenant Vickers. If you're interested in taking on the role, message me!

I've seriously got to stop bugging everyone this often.

Nevertheless, I'd like you all to welcome Dr. Carly Watson, our resident Chief Medical Officer! With her arrival, that brings our personnel total to 6 - we are officially operational!

On another note (and something I should have mentioned the other day) we are currently docked at Deep Space Five under Captain Tahir. The station won't play any particularly huge part in our upcoming mission, but it gives us a base to work from, as well as a golden opportunity to interact with the rest of the fleet.

As you may have noticed, I have invited you all to the Nimitz's Yahoo mailing list; I encourage you all to join! There is no need to create a new Yahoo Mail account to use this service, it's simply a convenient way of interacting with one another beyond the boundaries of Mission Posts.

Good day,

Dantius

Less than 24 hours after our last news item... but hey! News is news...

Please join me in welcoming Sascha Oakheart as our first Chief Engineering Officer. Sascha is unique as the Nimitz's only officer without a rank, yet the man retains decades of Engineering expertise. Welcome aboard!

The Nimitz now has a forum!
http://uss-nimitz.forumotion.co.uk/

I wanted the simm to have a place where we can share ideas more fluidly beyond the confines of private messaging. However, the forum is a temporary measure - in about a couple of weeks or so I shall be creating a dedicated mailing list on Yahoo groups that the crew is invited to join. More on that later. The forum can also be found on the 'Nimitz' page.

Lastly, just to let everyone know that I'm well on track to completing Command Academy by the end of the week. I've also had an e-mail from a potential Chief Tactical/Security Officer. Following that, the ship will gain full operational status, and we can finally begin our mission!

FYI - details on the first mission can be found on the homepage, and on the 'Missions' section of the 'Nimitz' page. I will be adding mission notes as we go along, so stay tuned...

That is all,

Firstly, a warm welcome to First Lieutenant Annette Walz, the 16th Regiment's Commanding Officer!

I've made some major additions to the site; I've spent hours inputting Awards, Ship Tour items, Specification items (for the Nimitz and her auxiliary craft) as well as bold links to each section on the 'Nimitz' page - it all looks very pretty, so take a look if you have a spare few minutes. I'll be adding Database items regularly, including access codes, departmental articles and links to useful sites. If you have anything you'd like to add to the Database, feel free!

Over and out!
